Course - Role of the Environmental Consultant in Litigation

This course will take place on December 9, 2014 (9am - 1pm) in New Brunswick, NJ. Role of the Environmental Consultant in Litigation is a half-day session taught by experienced lawyers and environmental professionals. This course will prepare you to participate effectively in litigation and other legally oriented proceedings. No knowledge of the law is required.

Description

This short course is designed to prepare environmental professionals to participate effectively in litigation and other legally oriented proceedings. As environmental issues become increasingly complex, the role of technically trained professionals in litigation continues to grow, and their advice or testimony is often decisive.

Professionals working in all environmental areas, including site remediation, facility siting, toxic and hazardous waste management and land-use planning and permitting, will gain knowledge that they can use in court, state and federal agency meetings, as well as other formal proceedings. No knowledge of the law is required.

This program will present you with the tools to:

Maintain your professional integrity within the context of courtroom procedures
Develop, organize and present your testimony within the legal framework, including but not limited to: reports, depositions, exhibits, testimony, rules of evidence, and chain-of-custody
Present effective testimony without going beyond the bounds of your expertise
Work effectively with attorneys and survive cross examination
Learn the terminology used in legal proceedings, including but not limited to: exhibits, testimony, hearsay, rules of evidence, and chain-of-custody
