Video - Why We Must Keep Fossil Fuels in the Ground

As the primary source of climate change causing emissions most of the known fossil fuel reserves must be left in the ground. If we want to have a chance of staving off the worst impacts of climate change we have to radically reduce our emissions. We must keep temperatures from rising above the upper threshold limit of 2 decrees Celsius above pre-industrial times. Our current trajectory is rapidly burning through our carbon budget and pushing us towards a 4 to 6 degree temperature increase. The only sane response is to stop ongoing exploration for new reserves and limit the extraction of known reserves.
