Smart Tire Concepts from Goodyear

Goodyear has developed a couple of tire concepts including one that generates electricity from motion. The BHO3 and the Triple Tube concept tires were unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

The BHO3 tire concept generate power by harnessing the heat of flexing. This tire operates in a similar fashion to regenerative braking.

Another Goodyear tire concept is called the Triple Tube. As the name suggests it has three internal tubes that allow it to change shape depending on conditions. These individual tubes can inflate or deflate to allow for high efficiency driving (eco/safety mode), wet traction and sporty driving conditions.

While the BHO3 and the Triple Tube are not intended for mass production they do gives us a glimpse into the future capabilities of smart tires.
