Over the course of the last five years people from around the world have been coming together alongside First Nations communities to protest the harmful impacts of oil production in the Canadian province of Alberta. These people have peacefully expressed their concerns about the impact on the planet and the health of First Nations communities in the region. The first Healing Walk took place in 2010 when people from the Athabasca region gathered together to pray for the land, the people, and the future. In 2013, the walk was joined by over 500 people from across Turtle Island and other parts of the world. The final healing walk took place on June 27th to 29th, 2014.
