EcoDistrict Practioners: Accelerating District-Scale Sustainability will take place on Tuesday Oct 29, 2013, in Ottawa, Ontario at Algonquin College's LEED Platinum certified Centre for Construction Excellence. Get practical tools to accelerate district-scale sustainability at the EcoDistricts workshop. Sponsored by Holcim, this one-day workshop aims to introduce consultants, architects, planners, and municipal staff to an exciting new approach to sustainable community planning. Workshop participants will learn strategies for organizing stakeholders, financing projects, providing policy support, and developing project priorities. Participants will earn seven GBCI CE hours.
This workshop will:
-Introduce the concept of EcoDistricts as a neighbourhood or district with broad commitment to accelerating sustainability;
-Provide attendees with a solid overview of integrated community sustainability planning concepts based on practical experiences;
-Assist professionals in moving municipal and community-driven projects from the planning to the implementation phase of EcoDistricts, including how to establish roles and a clear step-by-step approach; and,
-Municipal staff will benefit from gaining experience in this modern approach to planning and sustainability.
