Tar sands extraction poisons the air, ground and water. This point was corroborated by a 2014 report by Alberta's Energy Regulator (AER) which formally linked emissions from tar sands oil production with serious health impacts in the Peace River region. One of those trying to expose the truth about the tar sands health impact is Dr. John O’Connor, a family physician in northern Alberta. He regularly sees the adverse health impacts from fossil fuels on First Nations people.
