Our Future can be Powered Entirely by Solar Energy (Infographic)

There have been a growing number of studies which indicate that we can meet all of our energy needs with renewable energy and at least one indicates that solar energy alone can provide all the power we need. Renewable energy is critical to our efforts to transition away from fossil fuels which are the primary cause of climate change.

"We believe that with the right level of policy support, the world can deliver 100% renewable energy for all by 2050." said Emily Rochon, global energy strategist at Greenpeace International.

A Greenpeace report indicates that we can meet our power needs with renewables and a more recent study from Atmosphere/Energy Program at Stanford University along with University of California researchers says the same thing.

"The main barriers to getting to 100 percent clean energy are social and political, not technical or economic," said Mark Z. Jacobson, director of the Atmosphere/Energy Program at Stanford University told members of Congress and ambassadors from countries participating in the negotiations during a forum Thursday in Washington, DC.

An MIT study indicates that all of our energy needs can be met by solar energy alone.

The infographic below explains why we must move away from fossil fuels and towards renewables and how solar could address all of our power requirements.
