Renewable energy is being adopted by leading companies as an integral part of their business strategies. Encouraging the corporate world to embrace renewable energy is a central part of RE100 efforts. As the demand for energy grows RE100 has succeeded in securing the support of some of the world's leading companies. RE100 is an initiative of The Climate Group in partnership with CDP which works with the world’s most influential businesses on their journeys to becoming 100 percent powered by renewables.
RE100 was launched at Climate Week NYC on September 22, 2014. Since then a total of 15 companies (IKEA Group, Nestlé, BT Group, Commerzbank, Formula E, H&M, KPN, Mars, Philips, Reed Elsevier Group, J. Safra Sarasin Bank, SAP, SGS, Swiss Re and YOOX Group) have publicly pledged to derive all of their energy needs from renewable.
RE100 released their first report at the start of the World Future Energy Summit which convened in Abu Dhabi, on January 19th. The report is titled RE100: The journey to 100%. The report reviews current global trends in corporate demand for, and investment in, renewable power.
