On Friday May 9th, President Obama went to Walmart to promote his new plans to combat climate change through solar energy and energy efficiency. The president outlined 300 "private and public sector commitments" designed to create jobs and reduce carbon pollution.
The remarks came three days after the administration issued a report saying that we are already paying for the costs of climate change.
The President is supporting new solar business ventures and enforcing new building codes to promote energy efficiency. The plans are projected to create enough new solar energy to power more than 130,000 homes, and create energy savings equivalent to taking 80 million cars off the road for one year.
