Event - Greenbuild Nation

Greenbuild Nation will take place in Philadelphia on November 10-22, 2013. The green building movement is a global movement. The good we are working for is universal; our actions are local and regional; our impact is worldwide. Today we unite behind a shared sense of what truly matters and a common hope for the future because we believe in better buildings — places that give people better, brighter, healthier spaces to live, work and play.

Whatever your story, your background or your nationality, you are a citizen of our planet, a citizen of our community, a citizen of Greenbuild Nation. Together we are reaching across borders to build a better tomorrow.

As a four-time winner of the IMEX Sustainable Meetings award, we are committed to raising the bar in sustainable events each year.

USGBC is focusing on reducing our environmental impact through the following six objectives:

•Move toward a zero waste event
•Increase stakeholder education and engagement •Improve sustainable sourcing •Improve performance tracking
•Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
•Positively impact communities

Keynote Speaker: Hilary Rodham Clinton

Each year at Greenbuild the world’s business, environmental and social leaders take the stage to motivate, inspire and teach our industry. In 2013 Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will kick off Greenbuild and ignite our gathering as our Opening Plenary Keynote Speaker.

Hillary Rodham Clinton served as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State from 2009 until 2013, after nearly four decades in public service. Her "smart power" approach to foreign policy repositioned American diplomacy and development for the 21st century. Clinton played a central role in restoring America’s standing in the world, reasserting the United States as a Pacific power, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran and North Korea, responding to the Arab Awakening and negotiating a ceasefire in the Middle East.

Earlier, as First Lady and Senator from New York, she traveled to more than 80 countries as a champion of human rights, democracy, and opportunities for women and girls. Clinton also worked to provide health care to millions of children, create jobs and opportunity, and support first responders who risked their lives at Ground Zero. In her historic campaign for President, Clinton won 18 million votes.

Keynote Remarks by Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton Wednesday, Nov. 20, 5:30-7 p.m.
