BMW ActiveE at the Geneva Motor Show

BMW showcased the ActiveE concept back at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, BMW put the latest version of its electrified 1-Series on display. BMW has produced 1,000 of these vehicles for field tests.

Powering the BMW ActiveE are liquid-cooled SB LiMotive batteries. They generate 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The ActiveE can go from 0-60 miles (96 km) per hour in about nine seconds and the 1-Series has a range of 160 km.

The ActiveE will make its North American debut at the New York Auto Show in April. It will be available in select markets like Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, New York, Boston and parts of Connecticut, in the Fall of 2011.
