This is the finding in an E Source market research report titled, "How Photovaoltaics and Distributed Generation Will Disrupt Industry: 2015 Quantitative Research Results on Business Customer Acquisition of Systems."
The research was conducted in the Spring of 2015 and it is based on the survey responses from more than eight hundred non-residential respondents.
Retail and grocery stores are the leading segments in distributed solar. Almost half of the businesses installed their first solar arrays nearly five years ago. In addition to retail and grocery, the other segments that were surveyed include manufacturing, restaurants, offices, healthcare, lodging and government/schools.
Whether or not they have on-site solar, the study also showed that more than 80 percent of respondents are thinking about solar on a regular basis.
The E Source report demonstrates that companies are leading the transition away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy. There is every reason to believe that this trend will continue to intensify as the business case for distributed renewable energy is getting stronger by the day.
