In this the fourth week of their series they explore how pollution, health and the COVID-19 pandemic are all interlinked. Every year, exposure to toxic pollution claims the lives of nine million people worldwide. By failing to prevent chronic diseases, we became more vulnerable to the full force of respiratory infection epidemics like COVID-19.
Dr. Bruce Lanphear, Health Sciences Professor at Simon Fraser University, will discuss why stronger toxics and pollution laws are urgently needed and how disease prevention can save tens of billions of dollars that can be re-invested in healthcare and cleaner production.
