Getting Your Hands Dirty with Waste: A Perspective from the Sports and Entertainment Industry delivered by John Marler Vice President, Energy and Environment, AEG Worldwide, Stephanie Barger Director, Market Transformation & Development – TRUE Zero Waste Program , U.S. Green Building Council and Cameron Marcotte General Manager, The Mission Ballroom. Waste management is the most hands-on aspect of sustainability at live events. Fans are literally part of the waste generation, sorting, and disposal process, whereas energy and water efficiency aren’t as obvious or directly connected to the customer. Reducing waste generation at sports and entertainment events is challenging, however, as turnaround times are short, crowds are large, and contamination is a constant concern.
