Sustainable Production and Consumption is a journal published by Elsevier on behalf of IChemE. It features interdisciplinary papers on research and practice in the emerging field of sustainable production and consumption. This can be defined as the production and use of products and services in a manner that is socially beneficial, economically viable and environmentally benign over their whole life cycle. The journal looks at the interactions between technology, consumption and policy to help identify more-sustainable solutions for both production and consumption systems.

Raimund Bleischwitz
Title: The role of resources in transformations towards sustainability
Professor Raimund Bleischwitz Raimund Bleischwitz is Chair in Sustainable Global Resources at University College London (UCL). Former Deputy Director at the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources (UCL ISR), Director of the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (UCL BSEER) as of August 2018.
His previous positions include the Wuppertal Institute in Germany, the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium) a Max Planck Institute, the Institute for European Environmental Policy and in the German Bundestag. He has held fellowships at the Transatlantic Academy in Washington DC, at Johns Hopkins University (AICGS JHU) and in Japan (JSPS).
His research interests cover sustainable development, resource efficiency, the resource nexus, conflict minerals, international governance, the interface of policy and industry, and resulted in more than 200 publications. He is the Principal Investigator of an international collaborative project on the circular economy in China (SINCERE) and participates in a number of EU projects on eco-innovation and raw minerals (Green.EU/Inno4SD, RECREATE, POLFREE, Minatura, Mica). His recent book is the Routledge Handbook of the Resource Nexus.
David Greenfield

Dr David Greenfield FCIWM FRSA CEnv David Greenfield is Managing Director of SOENECS (SOcial, ENvironmental & EConomic Solutions), an independent environmental research and innovation practice he set up in 2014 following 15 years in leadership roles in local and regional government. SOENECS provides strategic advice and support to the public and private sectors on circular economy, waste and resource management, innovative solutions, chairing and facilitation and partnership delivery.
David Greenfield is Managing Director of SOENECS (SOcial, ENvironmental & EConomic Solutions), an independent environmental research and innovation practice he set up in 2014 following 15 years in leadership roles in local and regional government. SOENECS provides strategic advice and support to the public and private sectors on circular economy, waste and resource management, innovative solutions, chairing and facilitation and partnership delivery.
David is also the London “Circular Economy Club” co-organiser, non-executive Director of CIWM enterprises, Trustee and Director of Freegle, Chair of the ICE Resource Management Panel, Delivery Director for the Diocese of Chichester Energy Stewardship Programme and advisor and past chair to the National Waste Network Chairs.

Dr Stefan Hirschberg
Title: Integrated sustainability assessment of electric mobility
Dr Stefan Hirschberg Dr Hirschberg is the Senior Advisor in Energy Divisions at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland.
Until May 2017 he was the Head of the Interdepartmental Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis at PSI. Currently, he is Coordinator of Capacity Area “Integrated Assessment of Mobility Systems” in the Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research “Efficient Mobility” and Principal Investigator in Energy Cluster within Future Resilient Systems Programme in Singapore. Stefan’s research interests include life cycle assessment, environmental impact and external cost assessment, risk assessment, sustainability assessment, development of integrated tools for decision support, analysis of energy supply strategies, and integrated assessment of mobility.
He has managed a large number of projects on energy and mobility for regulators, for electrical utilities and vendors, and within international programmes. He has been a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences since 2008.
Carmen Teodosiu
Title: Environmental assessment of urban wastewater discharges at river basin level by means of waste absorption footprint
Professor Carmen Teodosiu Carmen Teodosiu is Director of the Department Environmental Engineering and Management at Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași (TUIASI), Romania.
She obtained her Chemical Engineering degree at TUIASI (1981), MSc in Environmental Science and Technology at the International Institute of Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering in Delft (1994-1996) and a PhD in Chemistry at TUIASI (1998).
She was Vice-Rector for Research for eight years and Director of TUIASI Doctoral schools for five years. Professor Teodosiu is the founder and Chairperson of the International Conference in Environmental Engineering and Management which in 2017 was in its 9th edition: www.iceem.ro
Her research interests include advanced wastewater treatment processes, integrated water resources management, and environmental & sustainability assessments.
Professor Teodosiu has published more than 215 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. She has eight patents and was Director/PI of 29 international and 104 national research projects. Dr Sandra Venghaus
Dr Venghaus is a senior scientist at the Institute for Systems Analysis and Technology Evaluation at the Research Center Juelich, Germany, and head of the research group “Ethics, Sustainability, and the Food, Energy, Water Nexus”. She received her B.A. in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard University in 2004 and her PhD in Economics from the Leibniz University of Hannover, before becoming a senior scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research from 2009 until 2014.
Her current research focuses on the dynamic modelling of complex socio-ecological systems with specific interest in evaluating the impacts of different political courses of action on social and environmental parameters embedded in the broader concept of sustainable development and, specifically, the nexus among food, energy and water resources.
