Sustainability Leadership at BMW (Videos)

BMW is a leading force in sustainable mobility and modernity. They have show leadership in the electric vehicle space by investing in EVs. They have also produced industry leading results. The BMW iSeries is a technologically sophisticated luxury electric car. In 2011 they announced plans to partner with GM on hydrogen fuel cell development.

On 21 March 2017, the BMW Group published its current Sustainable Value Report detailing the company’s sustainable operations. The report reveals the ways the sustainability has been sewn into the DNA of BMW. The depth of this engagement is explained in the following video by Ursula Mathar, BMW's Head of Sustainability and Environmental Protection:

A year earlier, to celebrate its 100th birthday, BMW revealed the shape shifting ‘Vision Next 100’ concept. BMW’s vision for the next 100 years is a sporting saloon. The BMW Vision Next 100 can be fully autonomous but when a driver takes the wheel he or she is guided by augmented-reality that projects ideal steering lines and speed onto the windscreen. The same display will project hidden hazards into your field of view. What makes this car truly revolutionary is its shape shifting abilities or as van Hooydonk describes it "alive geometry". The armadillo-scales triangles on the dash let the car warn you of upcoming hazards by opening to reveal their red flipsides.
