Global Wind Day

June 15 is Global Wind Day . This day celebrates the enormous benefits of wind power through a wide array of activities including wind farm open days, conferences, exhibitions, workshops, regattas, sporting contests and theatre shows.

2010 is the second year that Global Wind Day is occuring with the cooperation of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). Together with many national wind energy associations they coordinate Wind Day events across the globe.

Global Wind Day is an awareness campaign for the promotion of wind energy worldwide. The messages promote wind energy as a means of combating climate change, wind energy also supports energy independence. Wind energy has also proven to be a very leucrative investment.

On 15 June 2009, thousands of public events were organized and tens of thousands of people all over the world celebrated the benefits of wind power. From China to the Czech Republic, over 300 events and wind activities were organised in 35 different countries to spread the positive message about wind power.
