The entry deadline for the Fourth Annual Ethical Corporation Awards is on March 21st. These awards are global and open to all types of organisations. They recognize CSR best practice and celebrate responsible business excellence in the world of corporate sustainability.

Help Reader's Digest Find Canada's Greenest Towns

Reader’s Digest is holding a competition for "Canada’s Most Interesting Towns" and one of the categories is "Canada's Greenest Cities." Canadians from coast to coast are welcome to share their stories and images. To participate simply send a story and photos reviewing a town that leads the way in environmental issues and action.

Some of the accomplishments that qualify a city as "Canada's Greenest," include:

- innovative recycling schemes
- reduced carbon footprints
- great community gardens
- eco-energy programs
- nature conservation efforts
- green school curriculums

In addition to Canada's Greenest City the six other categories are: Best destination, healthiest, best cuisine, most community spirit, most artistic and most entrepreneurial.

This competition is intended to celebrate the "sites, sounds, quirky facts and fascinating folks that define the unique places we live in."

The popular magazine is looking to get as many Canadians as possible involved in the program. In their first two weeks, Reader's Digest received 160 submissions and over 19,000 votes!

Winning submissions will win a cash prize of $5,000 and an additional $5,000 for their town for a community improvement project. There are also seven prizes of $1,000 each to be won.

Teacher Wins Environmentally-Oriented Vanity Plate Contest

On April 18th 2012, Brian Stuhlman, a teacher in Columbia, MO, won a national contest seeking the most creative environmentally-oriented vanity license plate with his entry EZ2BGRN. The contest was created to observe this year's 75th anniversary of the vanity license plate and to call attention to Earth Day, Sunday, April 22.

The winner was awarded a cash prize of $1,000 from sponsor Eagle One™. Judging for the vanity license plate contest was conducted by a panel of automotive journalists. Stuhman said he will apply for the plate with his creation when his license is due for renewal next year.

Eagle One™ has introduced an eco-friendly line of vehicle appearance care products. Eagle One's EnviroShine is first major automotive brand to introduce a line of eco- friendly appearance products and the first eco-line to be available at national auto-parts retailers.

Earth Day Vanity License Plate Contest

A leading marketer of automotive appearance products is conducting a contest designed to call attention to Earth Day, April 22. Environmental causes receive funds from states that are derived from vanity license plate fees.

In 2012, the personalized license plate celebrates its 75th anniversary. In observance of this event Eagle One will award a cash prize of $1,000 to the individual who submits the most creative, environmentally-oriented message for a vanity plate using a combination of up to seven letters and numbers. The winner will be selected by a panel of automotive journalists.

Eagle One has joined the “green” movement with the introduction of its EnviroShine line of appearance products which is the first eco-line to be available at national auto-parts retailers.

Entries will be accepted from March 12 through April 9. To enter, submit to eagleone.com. One online entry per person and entrant must be 18 years or older. The winner will be announced
April 20.
